For those of you who missed the monthly club meeting, our updated weekly ride (spring) schedule is as follows.

The Weekday rides will start at 6:00pm on Mondays and Thursdays. We will keep the distance at 20 miles until our sunsets are a little later. *Tail lights are highly recommended.

The Saturday morning rides will start at 10:00am with a distance of 45-50 miles.

Unless posted otherwise, all rides leave from 231 Burke St. in Gibsonville.

PLEASE check the Facebook page prior to showing up for a ride, as rides will be cancelled if the weather is not favorable for riding.

We have several centuries and metric centuries in the works for March and April. Watch the BVC website and FB page for updates.

Although the month started with cold weather, BVC heated up the local races with some solid results. The first weekend brought a full day of racing at the Triangle Velo Winter Ace Speedway Race. In the Master’s race, Chris Woods went after several breaks eventually getting in one that stuck resulting in a 3rd place finish. February 16th brought some cold and wintery weather which changed the Hagan-Stone Duathlon to a 10k trail run. Donna Hill and Rich Vanderford endured the icy conditions with Donna taking 2nd in her age group and Rich placing 9th overall and 1st in his age group. On the same day about 250 miles southeast, Dacia Benton achieved a PR at the Myrtle Beach Marathon with a finishing time of 4:04:18. Great BVC results!

Congratulations to Rich Vanderford for achieving a PR at the Walt Disney World Half Marathon with a finishing time of 1:32:47. In the same race, Donna Hill also obtained a half marathon PR of 2:06:40. Donna went on to take the Goofy Challenge and followed the half marathon with a full marathon the next day, setting a PR of 4:48:13. Great races!

The Ace Speedway Race Series starts 4/02/2013 for 7 weeks (every other Tuesday night). Download the flyer here.

The Ace Speedway Series offers us the opportunity to get the most BVC riders involved and practice teamwork within the races. So, please try to make these races. These are early season races with many of the big races occurring after the series end.

PLEASE check the Facebook page prior to showing up for a ride as the weather is hit or miss this time of year. Those of us leading the rides will post the day of the ride if we are canceling due to less than favorable conditions or temps below 40 degrees.

Monday night rides – 7:00

• 15-20 miles/14-16mph. avg. pace.
• Headlamps and tail lights are Required.

Thursday night rides – 7:00

• 20-22 miles/16-18mph. avg. pace.
• Headlamps and tail lights are Required.

Saturday morning rides – 10:00

• 40-45 miles/16-18mph. avg. pace.
• This ride usually includes a stop midway at a coffee shop.
